Kunwara

Initially, it felt socially awkward, she was 20 I was 24, and it was unexplainable. Today we have a whole new breed of singles everywhere. Mostly singles get friends, though they hunt for a girlfriend, they get friend-zoned and some turn out to become Rakhi-Brothers, in my case, while turning 24 I became a Kunwara Baap of a 20-year-old girl.

I met her just like that, she was one of my friend's treasurous roommates. Everyone loved her. Her personality was well equipped with every girlish ingredient, from cuteness to beauty, from melodious voice to marvellous grace, from a sense of humour to a sense of responsibility. She was a girl who makes everyone happy. She always spread a smile and brought a proud feeling. When I saw her, it felt like I had seen my dream child turning into reality. I mean when I was younger I used to have this awkward set of thoughts that how my children would look like. As and when I was her the image that I had of my daughter just met the reality in her.

I called her Beta and I felt the emotion of it.

Father Daughter relationship

I've seen my dad, my uncles and Tau ji's as fathers of my sisters, I've seen their love for each other, I've read emotions in forwarded messages about a daughter's love towards her father but never in my life have I had thought of having experience of being one so early.

One day one of the so-called, Char- Log asked me Why do you feel like she is your daughter? He further added," Friendship could be there between you, she can be your younger sister even, why do you call her your child? you are not even married and how the hell a man in his twenties could have a twenty-year-old daughter, from where such feeling was injected in you?"

"A Dad is a person, who is loving and kind,

And often he knows, what you have on your mind?

He's someone who listens, suggests, and defends

A dad can be one of your very best friends;

He's proud of your triumphs, but when things go wrong,

A dad can be patient and helpful and strong."

His questions were damn logical. It tempted me to dive into a sea of thoughts. I did so and came up floating with an answer. It was hard to describe it in words but slightly easy with a chant.

In My Daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes, I am a hero

I am strong and wise and I own no fear

But the truth is plain to see

She was sent to rescue me

I see who I want to be, In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes, Everyone is equal

Darkness turns to light, And the world is at peace

This miracle God gave to me, Gives me strength when I'm weak

I find a reason to believe

In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her little hand around my finger

it puts a smile in my heart

Everything becomes a little clearer

I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough

She givin' more when you feel like givin' up

I've seen the light, It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes, I can see the future

A reflection of who I am, And what we'll be

And though she'll grow and someday leave

Maybe raise a family, When I'm gone

I hope you'll see, How happy she made me

For I'll be there, In my daughter's eyes.
